America SCORES Seattle hires a new Executive Director Sam Perlin
Sam Perlin is very excited to join America SCORES Seattle!
Sam is a north-end Seattle resident and active athlete and artist with a passion for service. The Perlin’s have three children; Liat (24), Amit (22) and Maital (14).
After graduating from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education, Recreation, Dance, Health and Coaching PreK-12th, Sam began teaching and coaching basketball, soccer and track at his own and Sharon's high school, in Rockville Maryland.
Sam became the Athletic Director, Boys Varsity Basketball coach and Boys Varsity Soccer Coach at Beth Tfiloh Dahan School in Baltimore Maryland in 1992. He coached, taught, recruited and fundraised Beth Tfiloh into a day school with a competitive and respected athletic program within the prestigious Maryland Interscholastic Activities Association. He got his Masters’ in Educational Administration at McDaniel College while working at BT.
Sam moved to Seattle to be the Athletic Director, PE department head and Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences (SAAS) where he worked from 1998-2008. While at Seattle Academy, Sam was awarded the prestigious SAAS Building Communities Award and he was twice voted the Sea Tac B League Boys Basketball Coach of the Year. Seattle Academy did not have athletic facilities of their own when Sam arrived, and so he rented facilities all around the city for the schools many sports and teams. Sam then helped to raise $6 million for the Seattle Academy gym; an architectural award-winning athletic facility. He has served managing WIAA basketball, soccer, golf and cross-country tournaments and on regional boards and committees on the districts and state level. Sam also helped to found the Emerald City 1A league and the Cascade Middle School League, all while leading the SAAS sports program to numerous leagues, district and state championships.
After 10 years at SAAS building community, Sam worked as the Executive Director for Camp Solomon Schechter in Olympia WA (2008-2018). While leading the camp in Judaism, athletics, arts and outdoor education, he increased revenue through increased rentals, camper enrollment and fundraising. Sam built upgraded facilities, expanded quality education for over 5000 kids raising over $10 million for the camp. Sam is a well-known and respected mentor of Jewish youth in the Pacific Northwest!
Sam is passionate about sports, soccer and poetry but most particularly in helping needy kids learn and grow. He has an extensive history of building high quality and fun programing with a focus on youth development, leadership, physical skills, friendship, and community, utilizing the funds that he helps to raise. Sam aspires to help our SCORES students to develop strong identities, loving their school, city, local community, and the sport of soccer and the art of poetry and to develop good habits for a lifetime of fun, knowledge, health and happiness.
